Yet while we don’t want to get rid of our old discs, we sometimes need a more convenient way to use them. New DVDs still fly off the shelves when a big movie or TV show hits the home market, while many of us have a huge collection of films and TV shows on DVD, which we want to keep. With Ultra HD TVs, Blu-ray players and on-demand streaming services, you’d have thought the DVD would be obsolete, yet the format remains hugely popular.
